Syria and the Syrian Refugee Crisis
ILLINOIS
Global and Diversity Education and the Arab Student Union have partnered to present “Syria and the Syrian Refugee Crisis.” Guest speakers Dr. Zaher Sahloul and Suzanne Akhras-Sahloul of the Syrian American Medical Society will discuss the Syrian crisis, including the 12 million Syrians who are refugees or internally displaced. They also will present on the thriving Syrian American community in the U.S. that has mobilized to provide humanitarian assistance to their homeland. The U.S. will be resettling thousands of Syrian refugees in the next few years, and it is critical our community has a better understanding of this crisis and its repercussions.
