Screening of Madam Parliamentarian
Maryland
Auditorium – Although Lebanon is considered the most progressive nation in the Arab world and women have been voting since the 1950s in fairly equal proportion to men, only four of the 128 Lebanese parliament members today are women. This film explores the reasons why and illustrates ways in which women view, and are viewed in, their roles of active participation in Lebanon’s political life.
A discussion with filmmaker Rouane Itani will follow the screening.
Screened in partnership with Docs In Progress.
Free.
