Remembering Al-Nakba 1948 (Catastrophe Day)
MARYLAND
Please join us in “Remembering Al-Nakba.” This event will commemorate Al-Nakba Day (Catastrophe Day) of May 15, 1948. This day symbolizes the exodus of the Palestinian people from their land as Zionist militias ethnically cleansed their communities and founded the State of Israel, creating what Badil and the Institute for Middle East Understanding calls the largest and longest-standing refugee populations in the world.

This event’s purpose is to shed light on the situation of the Palestinian people today and to educate people about the history of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
We are honored to host Palestinian activist Abbas Hamideh as our guest speaker. Mr. Hamideh is a cofounder of “Al-Awda, The Palestinian Right to Return Coalition.”
We are also registering people for our team (SJP Terps!) at the #Gaza5K walk/run event hosted by @unrwausa. Student registration is $25. All proceeds will fund programs that provide mental health and trauma services to Palestinian children in Gaza.
All registrants receive a COOL Palestine-themed bracelet. Donations of $5 or more will also get you a COOL bracelet.
