We have all experienced the freezing temperatures that DC has been hit with lately. Fortunately for us, we have also been able to stay warm, whether it’s by a pair of gloves, an extra layer of clothing or a big winter jacket, but unfortunately not everyone is as lucky. The percentage of homelessness in DC has risen to 13%, averaging at about 7,000 people. According to the CDC, the weather kills at least 2,000 Americans each year and nearly two-thirds of the deaths are from the cold. In an effort to help the less fortunate stay warm, a group of us have started a project, where we intend on raising money to assemble care packages. These would include items such as gloves, socks, hand warmers, blankets, coats, protein bars, etc…..

If you also have old blankets, jackets, gloves or beanies that are in GOOD condition, please reach out to us to donate.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 by January 30th. We know that’s a very high goal, but you would be surprised just how many people really need the help.

Once we raise the money and assemble the care packages, we will set a date to go around DC to distribute the packages.

If anyone has any questions or would like to partake in the distribution/packaging process, please let me know or one of the admins know.
