DESCRIPTION:ONLINE EVENT\n\nWe have all experienced the freezing temperatur
 es that DC has been hit with lately. Fortunately for us\, we have also bee
 n able to stay warm\, whether it's by a pair of gloves\, an extra layer of
  clothing or a big winter jacket\, but unfortunately not everyone is as lu
 cky. The percentage of homelessness in DC has risen to 13%\, averaging at 
 about 7\,000 people. According to the CDC\, the weather kills at least 2\,
 000 Americans each year and nearly two-thirds of the deaths are from the c
 old. In an effort to help the less fortunate stay warm\, a group of us hav
 e started a project\, where we intend on raising money to assemble care pa
 ckages. These would include items such as gloves\, socks\, hand warmers\, 
 blankets\, coats\, protein bars\, etc.....\n\nIf you also have old blanket
 s\, jackets\, gloves or beanies that are in GOOD condition\, please reach 
 out to us to donate.\n\nOur goal is to raise $5\,000 by January 30th. We k
 now that's a very high goal\, but you would be surprised just how many peo
 ple really need the help.\n\nOnce we raise the money and assemble the care
  packages\, we will set a date to go around DC to distribute the packages.
