FILM ROW CINEMA COLUMBIA COLLEGE

Please join us for a special screening and discussion of Halal in the Family, a new satirical web series starring The Daily Show’s Aasif Mandvi and House of Cards’ Sakina Jaffrey. Raising awareness of the challenges American Muslims confront while living amid growing hostility and bias, Halal in the Family explores online bullying and hate networks, media bias, and the cynical use of anti-Muslim prejudice for political gain—all with a humorous bite.
How does pop culture influence our perceptions in both good and bad ways? And how can parody spur difficult conversations about everyday prejudice in America? Join us for a screening and discussion with cultural producer Asad Jafri, lawyer and writer Nura Maznavi, Center for New Community Advocacy Director Kalia Abiade, AAPIP Co-Chair Kashif Shaikh, and more.
Please respond via Eventbrite by April 15.
