This year marks the 5th year since the conflict that began in Syria in 2011. The situation is disastrous—entire towns and neighborhoods have been demolished or isolated, and many Syrians have been living in daily destruction. 6.5 million children have been affected by the crisis–more than half of Syrian children are no longer attending school. It’s important that we take any action we can to help our brothers and sisters in Islam. This isn’t a religious cause, it’s a humanitarian one. I understand that not everyone can afford to make monetary donations but this clothing drive requires just your time and energy. Please join us and invite your friends and family members to take part in the cause.

Anas (RA) reported: “The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or is oppressed.’ A man asked: ‘O Messenger of Allah! I (know how to) help him when he is oppressed, but how can I help him when he is an oppressor?’ He said: ‘You can restrain him from committing oppression. That will be your help to him.’” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

On Sunday April 19th we humbly request everyone to please come out to ICNA Helping Hand Center and help prepare boxes of clothing for Syria. We hope to send the boxes as soon as possible so please spread the word and join us for Syrian Relief.
