On February 26th in New York, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Mr. Antonio Guterres, announced to the Security Council that “Turkey has now become the biggest refugee-hosting country in the world.”
Just 5 years ago, Turkey was not among the top 10. The Syrian conflict has caused nearly 2 million Syrians to flee to Turkey, while 200,000 nationals of other countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, and Somalia also seek safety there.
RSN is a 501c3 non-profit organization that views legal assistance as an integral part of humanitarian assistance. RSN not only mobilizes financial resources to support Turkish non-profits, but uses best-practices from the American legal field to create a more effective and interlinked Turkish legal community that can provide legal aid across the country. By funding a legal community center, introducing pro bono programs, and promoting systemic advocacy, RSN works to create sustainable solutions, not short-term aid.
