The documentary portraits the life of Erez Bitton, a Moroccan-born Jew who lives in Israel, renowned for his groundbreaking and acclaimed poetry. The film records Bitton’s collective and personal stories as a Mizrahi as well as his own experiences living with blindness. Sami Shalom Chetrit is the head of the Hebrew Studies Program in the department of Classical, Middle Eastern, and Asian Languages and Cultures at Queens College, and the Master’s in Middle East at the Graduate Center, CUNY. Professor Chetrit is a Moroccan Jew who was raised in Israel. He writes and publishes scholarly work, poetry and prose and makes documentary films. His publications include, Intra-Jewish Conflict in Israel: White Jews, Black Jews (Routledge 2010). Ilan Benattar, MA-MES student at the Graduate Center, CUNY, will introduce Prof. Chetrit.
