SUMMARY:Shattered Rhymes: The Life and Poetry of Erez Bitton
DESCRIPTION:The documentary portraits the life of Erez Bitton\, a Moroccan-
 born Jew who lives in Israel\, renowned for his groundbreaking and acclaim
 ed poetry. The film records Bitton’s collective and personal stories as 
 a Mizrahi as well as his own experiences living with blindness. Sami Shalo
 m Chetrit is the head of the Hebrew Studies Program in the department of C
 lassical\, Middle Eastern\, and Asian Languages and Cultures at Queens Col
 lege\, and the Master’s in Middle East at the Graduate Center\, CUNY. Pr
 ofessor Chetrit is a Moroccan Jew who was raised in Israel. He writes and 
 publishes scholarly work\, poetry and prose and makes documentary films. H
 is publications include\, Intra-Jewish Conflict in Israel: White Jews\, Bl
 ack Jews (Routledge 2010). Ilan Benattar\, MA-MES student at the Graduate 
 Center\, CUNY\, will introduce Prof. Chetrit.
