US Firm Reveals Designs for Largest Hotel in Riyadh
Architect firm Goettsch Partners has revealed the designs for a new five-star 900-bedroom business hotel and serviced apartment complex in the Saudi city of Riyadh.
The project, estimated to cost $450m, will be the largest hotel in the capital and the first in Riyadh specifically designed and built for Hilton, the firm said in an emailed statement.
Located on the Eastern Ring Road, it comprises two towers connected by a large podium, one of which will be a 20-storey, 650-bedroom hotel and the other a 14-storey serviced apartments building.
The complex will include a number of food outlets, two outdoor lounges, 70,000 sq ft of meeting facilities, and a large, 44,100 sq ft multipurpose hall – the largest in the city.
Leisure and recreational facilities include a men’s spa, health club and pool, as well as similar private facilities for women.
The American company is working closely on the project with local architect firm Omrania & Associates as well as hospitality interior design firm David Wrenn Interiors.
The project is currently in the final design phase and is scheduled for completion in 2013.
Goettsch Partners is a Chicago-based architecture firm with additional offices in Shanghai and Abu Dhabi.
Recently completed projects the firm has been involved in within the GCC include the 214-room Wyndham hotel in the King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and a 3 million sq ft office development in Abu Dhabi that features the headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.
