The Joy Choir of Our Lady of Damascus Church to Appear in Detroit
The Joy Choir (Jawqet Al Farah), the outstanding choir of Our Lady of Damascus Church, has been in existence for over 30 years. They have won several awards, and have participated in many national events, and sing both religious and secular music.
The choir which is made up of children (100 boys and girls) is invited to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. toward the end of February 2009.
After the DC event, the Detroit Syrian Consulate reports that they are working on details for a Detroit performance. After their Detroit performance, they will perform in Florida before leaving back to Damascus.
More detailed information about the concert in Detroit will be available at the beginning of 2009.
