The International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit Offers Global Journeys Summer Day Camp
From June 23 -July 31, 2008, The International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit is offering two programs for three weeks: Global Journeys Summer Day Camp for children ages 7-13 and the International Youth Leadership Program for ages 14 & up.
Both programs will focus on preparing the kids to become AMBASSADORS OF PEACE and CITIZENS OF THE WORLD. The young people will participate in many educational and fun activities including learning basic communication in five major languages, indoor and outdoor games, field trips to area museums and different ethnic communities, arts & crafts, etiquette, food, music, and dance from different countries. The older youth will both participate and take lead roles in the activities. This is an exciting opportunity for both youth and children to socialize, interact, explore and learn about the world.
The activities are scheduled for Mondays through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Early drop-off and late pick-up are available. Approximately 30-40 children and 10-15 youth will be accepted in the programs. An international lunch will be served around noon, followed by a tour of the Cultural Center or one of the ethnic sites in the Metropolitan Detroit area.
Local and International Camps will visit the Global Journeys Summer Day Camp. We will also attend Youth Day at Belle Isle. Educators/Presenters of different cultural backgrounds and from different countries will organize unforgettable experiences.
