The Arab-American Civil Right League (ACRL) Third Annual Fight for Justice Gala
On October 10, 2014, the Arab-American Civil Rights League (ACRL) will host its Third Annual “FIGHT FOR JUSTICE” Dinner and Gala at Greenfield Manor in Dearborn, Michigan. This third annual dinner will be a historical one for the metro-Detroit community.
The ACRL was created in response to the overwhelming need in the Arab-American community for advocacy and protection of Arab-American civil rights and liberties.
On this night the ACRL, will host over 1000 dignitaries and guests, including numerous state and community leaders, elected officials, and civil rights activists.
The Keynote Speaker, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, is a Georgetown University professor, radio show host, author, media commentator, to name a few. The awardees of the “2014 ACRL Courage In Public Service Leadership Award” will be given to Dr. Farouk El-Baz, Professor at Boston University. Dr. El-Baz is a former NASA scientist who was instrumental in the Apollo lunar landing, helping to land the first man on the moon. Our local awardee, Mr. Ismael Ahmed, has dedicated his life to giving back and working with the community. Mr. Ahmed is one of the founding members of ACCESS and was instrumental as the former director in making it the success it is today. Mr. Ahmed was appointed to the cabinet of former Governor Granholm as Department of Human Services (DHS) Director where he directed over 10,000 state employees.
Their will be a special tribute to Congressman John Conyers as the new Dean of the Congress along with a special tribute to the outgoing Dean Congressman John Dingell.
