Preserving heritage sites top priority
Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, second deputy premier and minister of interior, has instructed regional governors not to make any changes to any historical or archeological site without coordinating with the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA).
A circular issued by the minister and distributed among all governors also emphasized the need to coordinate with SCTA’s regional offices before attempting to alter any archeological and heritage site. The governors should also inform SCTA if any archeological site required renovation.
Prince Mohammed stressed the importance of preserving the country’s Islamic historical and archeological sites.
