Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell to Protest Planned Quran Burning
Gov. Ed Rendell says he’ll appear with members of the Arab-American community in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia to protest the planned burning of copies of Islam’s holiest text by the head of a small Florida church.
Rendell said his appearance will be Saturday, the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Pennsylvania’s Jewish governor says he wants Muslims around the world to hear the message that America holds its Muslim citizens in high regard, not that a group headed by somebody whom he says is “clearly wacko” is burning copies of the Quran.
Independence Hall, considered the birthplace of the United States, is where delegates from the states wrote and signed the U.S. Constitution, and where the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence.
