My Arab American Vote – Yalla Vote
The National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC) has launched a voter action initiative aimed at motivating Arab Americans to step into the ballot box in November. The Michigan-based network, a project of ACCESS, is working with its 23 member organizations in 11 states to engage community members about the importance of registering and voting. NNAAC is also working in partnership with the Arab American Institute in Washington and Arab American grassroots communities across the country to promote voting through cultural awareness. The group’s goal is to get thousands of voters to commit to vote and to urge friends and family to do the same.
NNAAC is providing training and resources for members, hosting national events and partnering with the Michigan Secretary of State to recruit bilingual poll workers. The campaign also includes a social media component called “My Arab American Vote – Yalla Vote” targeting people ages 13-24.
