Michigan Muslim Community Council Welcomes Back Hajjis and Condemns Attacks Against Fellow Muslims
MMCC welcomes back the pilgrims who performed the Hajj and congratulates them for their accomplishment.
However, MMCC is disturbed to hear reports of assaults and harassment of Shia pilgrims from Dearborn in the camps of Mina. Sectarian conflict is to be condemned, and is completely against the spirit of the Hajj.
We ask for the whole community to pray for the safe return of the Hajjis and uphold the Code of Honor, where all sects agree to respect each other’s traditions and maintain dialogue with each other in the spirit of our love for God and His Prophet.
MMCC recently convened a meeting of Shia and Sunni leaders who reaffirmed their commitment to mutual respect.
