Khloe Kardashian's 'Halloween Arab' Draws Fan Anger
‘Keeping Up With the Kardashian’ star Khloe Kardashian should know when to lip it.
The reality star is being trolled on Twitter and Instagram after posting a picture of sister Kourtney Kardashian’s partner Scott Disick dressed as an Arab for Halloween.
The drama was not surrounding the picture; it’s the caption that offended many of her followers.
She attracted comments like, “‘Ur caption is very disrespectful to Muslims. Watch ur mouth!!”
With more than 14 million Instagram fans, and many from the Middle East, such a post was bound to spread widely in a short period of time, and the reactions were equally swift.
Followers were quick to react to the photos on Twitter, with many calling out the costume for perpetuating a stereotypical and monolithic image of Arab culture, and others offended by Khloe’s caption.
Several Instagram users called Kardashian’s caption ‘rude.’
“This is so disrespectful,” uzmahthakor wrote on Instagram. “You can’t make a costume from a religion. Learn to respect religions and not mock them. Please.”
Disick spent the holiday dressed as an Arab and captioning his photo, “Happy halloween! We getting Arab money tonight,” likely a reference to a 2008 song by Busta Rhymes.
@harryurnotfunny wrote, “why did scott disick dress like that for halloween who does he think he is.”
@miniestmini, “Another Halloween and these idiotic “celebrities” continue to do this.”
@kingnoor123 posted, “This is so insulting; thank god french Montana dumped khloe.”
This is also not the first time Khloe Kardashian has been criticised for offending other cultures.
In June, the reality star drew the ire of Native Americans for wearing a head-dress to niece North West’s Kidchella birthday party.
“I just can’t believe she would be that insensitive to think it was OK to wear that war bonnet at a kids’ party,” Cliff Matias, cultural director of the Redhawk Native American Arts Council, told Page Six about Khloe Kardashian’s outfit. “…Now you have a celebrity at a kids’ party creating a whole new generation of insensitive thinking.”
Neither Khloé nor Scott have taken to social media to explain the images yet, nor have any other members of the Kardashian clan.
