Justin Amash's Election Victory Lauded by the Arab American Institute
Congressman-elect Justin Amash, R-Cascade Township, scored more international publicity after this month’s election, lauded by the Arab American Institute for increasing their caucus.
His election, along with that of Rep.-elect Richard Hanna, a New York Republican, brings the number of Arab Americans in Congress to five, which the institute’s blog at aaiusa.org, observes is the highest number in eight years. The other three are Reps. Nick Rahall, D-W.Va.; Darrell Issa, R-Calif.; and Charles Boustany, R-La.
The blog also notes that Amash is only the second Palestinian-American to serve in Congress. Sen. John E. Sununu was first.
