SUMMARY:What about Egypt? Discussion of Informed Scholars on the Present an
 d Future of Egyptian Politics
DESCRIPTION:CONNECTICUT\nWhat about Egypt? Discussion of Informed Scholars
on the Present and Future of Egyptian Politics\nPresented by the Yale Coun
cil for Middle East Studies\n\n\nHundreds of thousands of Egyptians took t
o the streets to protest against president Mohamed Morsi and his governmen
t on the 30th of June 2013. Scholars and analysts have since differed on t
he conceptualization of what happened and what continues to unfold. The di
fficulty to access the field and collect evidence is making the ideologica
l\, political and socioeconomic landscapes more conceptually confusing. Th
is workshop aims to offer an in-depth analysis of politics in Egypt. It in
vites Egyptian scholars who have witnessed and participated in those lands
capes to reflect on the concepts used to frame what is currently happening
\, based on evidence they were able to collect in their own respective fie
lds. The workshop neither seeks to commend nor condemn but invites partici
pants to read the present and contemplate the future.\n\n9:15 am: The rupt
