Since the beginning of the Syrian Revolution, approximately 6.5 million children and their families have been forced to flee their homes and take refuge in or outside Syria while other children are still trying to survive through the war. No one claims responsibility for them, and the international aid community has a hard time reaching them.
Why toys?
Humanitarian organizations are providing basic necessities and education in these camps. Unfortunately, these children have little to call their own. Toys provide emotional comfort and have an important impact on their cognitive development. Children need toys to expand their imaginations and develop socially and academically. Furthermore, toys can teach children certain concepts which are important, especially in a conflict zone: how to take care of something, how to share, how to be kind and how to love.
People Demand Change LLC, Syria Relief & Development and Color My World Project hope to provide children this year a little bit of hope for a better future, especially at Eid.
We’re accepting NEW and GENTLY USED toys and summer clothing for children ages 0-15. Write a letter or include a picture with your donation. The children love messages from their friends in the USA.
