Iraq represents huge commercial prospects. According to the Oil & Gas Journal, Iraq held 144 billion barrels of proved crude oil reserves as of January 1, 2015, representing almost 18% of proved reserves in the Middle East and almost 9% of global reserves. Ranking 5th in the world, Iraq has five super-giant fields in the south that account for about 60% of the country’s total proved oil reserves. Their proved natural gas reserves as of January 1, 2015 were 12th largest in the world at almost 112 trillion cubic feet (TcF), and about three-fourths of Iraq’s natural gas reserves are associated with oil, most of which also lie in the super-giant fields in the south.
In order to support these natural reserves, Iraq is looking to rebuild its oil and gas infrastructure through targeted trade and investment, which is why we are very pleased to be able to offer this rare opportunity to access these key Ministry, Governorate and Diplomatic leaders all together, in a single program in the United States.
