Discussions about the Israeli occupation usually touch upon the destruction of homes, farms and olive groves, but of equal importance is the despoiling of the region’s flora and fauna.

As part of Gallery Al-Quds’ exhibition of Debra Van Poolen’s watercolors of Palestine, Natural History, Dr. Steven Salaita will discuss the impact of the degradation of the natural environment on indigenous peoples, in the context of this destruction in Palestine due to settlement construction and the apartheid wall, as well the broader implications this destruction has on cultural heritage as a whole.
