DESCRIPTION:DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA\n\nFoty Fusion\, a Palestinian-American gr
 oup will commemorate this year's anniversary of the Nakba through a musica
 l performance and visual presentation highlighting the historical signific
 ance of a series of songs.\n\nOver the past 67 years\, Palestinian resista
 nce music has continued to evolve by navigating and redefining itself in d
 ifferent cultural spaces in the diaspora. In positioning these songs withi
 n their historical context\, this presentation will seek to illustrate how
  the Nakba musical narrative has changed over time and how it must consist
 ently redefine itself in the face of Israeli military occupation. As Israe
 li colonization has persisted and entered a new and perhaps more brutal ph
 ase\, the need to resist through music has gained a growing significance. 
 Understanding the history of Palestinian resistance music and its evolutio
 n will bring to light the ongoing Nakba musical narrative. The chosen them
 es of the evening will reflect on Palestinian history and the struggle for
  self determination as well as symbolism and the resurfacing of old ideolo
 gies in present day music.\n\nFoty Fusion is a Palestinian-American family
