DESCRIPTION:PENNSYLVANIA\n\nFor a millennium the culture of Jews and Arabs 
 coexisted in the Middle East. The shared cultural capital of Jews and Arab
 s\, particularly in urban centers\, led to creative convergences\, in perh
 aps no field more so than in music. Join us for a musical performance and 
 conversation about the Arab roots of Jewish musical traditions from the 10
 th century to the present and the significant roles that Jewish musicians 
 played in the music scenes in Arab cities such as Baghdad and Cairo during
  the “golden age” of Arab music in the first half of the 20th century.

 l-Bustan Seeds of Culture\; Zach Fredman\, Founder and Musical Director of
  the Middle Eastern Jewish music ensemble the Epichorus\; and Yosef Goldma
 n\, vocalist with the Epichorus and a rabbi at Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israe
