 ssociation in welcoming esteemed Islamic studies professor\, Carl Ernst\,
  to speak at UNC School of Law on the subject of Islamophobia in the Unite
 d States. He will discuss his book\, "Islamophobia in America: The Anatomy
  of Intolerance\," which explores the way that differences of religion\, r
 ace\, and gender have been used to portray Muslims as threatening "out-gro
 ups\," just as other minorities (Catholics\, Jews\, blacks) have been atta
 cked in the past. Professor Ernst is the Kenan Distinguished Professor of 
 Islamic studies at the Department of Religious Studies at UNC Chapel Hill.
  He is also the co-director of the Carolina Center for the Study of the Mi
 ddle East and Muslim Civilizations.\n\n
