DESCRIPTION:MICHIGAN\n\nThe Arab American National Museum (AANM) invites yo
 u to Highlight Iraq\, a FREE evening of film screenings and performance on
  Thursday\, April 30th from 7:00-9:00 pm.\n\nThe event will feature severa
 l short films produced by Highlight Arts a non-profit UK based arts organi
 zation. The short films were produced during poetry translation workshops 
 in Iraq and feature the work of several Iraqi poets including: Zaher Mousa
 \, Gharreb Iskander\, Sabreen Khadim\, Ahmad Abdul Hussein and others. The
  evening will include performances and a panel presentation by local poets
  Kevin Rashid\, Fadel Jabr\, Maia Asshaq\, Dunya Mikhail and visual artist
 \, Wafer Shayota\, and will conclude with music by Laith Al-Attar.\n\nThis
  event is part of an ongoing series organized in conjunction with Detroit
  to Baghdad: Al-Mutanabbi Street Starts Here exhibit &amp\; book arts fest
 ival on display thru July 12\, 2015.\n\nHighlight Arts organizes festivals
 \, events and workshops uncovering stories about people and places affecte
 d by a range of conflicts from inequality\, prejudice\, war and environmen

  Beau Beausoleil in the weeks after the bombing of Al-Mutanabbi Street\, B

 tist books\, prints and an anthology of essays and poetry (PM Press\, 2012
 ). Since 2007\, the work has been exhibited at venues around the world.'\n
