 lims. But what do these stories have to do with Islam? Join Dr. Yvonne Yaz
 beck Haddad\, professor of the History of Islam and Christian-Muslim Relat
 ions at Georgetown University\, for this three-\n\nweek exploration of the
  Muslim faith and its history in the U.S. At each session a distinguished 
 guest joins to help you to better understand this important branch of the 
 Abrahamic faith tradition.\n Schedule\nApril 7: An Introduction to Islam 
 in the U.S.\n\n\nWhat do Muslims believe and what is the history of Islam 
 in the US? This session\, led by Dr. Altaf Husain\, Assistant Professor fo
 r the School of Social Work at   Howard University\, will focus on Islam
  as a faith tradition and the coming of\n\nIslam to America through immigr
 ation\, missionary activity\, intellectual pursuits\, conversion\, and Ame
 rican security interests.\n\n&nbsp\;\nApril 14: The Role of Women in Islam
 \n\n\nDoes Islam preach a cultural imperative for women? This session\, le
 d by Manal Omar\, Acting Vice President for the Middle East and Africa Cen
 ter\, will address America’s misunderstandings with the role of women in
  Islam. We will explore the Qur’anic teachings and Muslim interpretation
 s of gender roles in Islam.\n\n&nbsp\;\nApril 21: Islam and Politics in th
 e U.S.\n\n\nHow does Islam fit in the American landscape? This session\, l
 ed by Khaled Elgindy\, Fellow at the Center for Middle East Policy at the 
 Brookings Institute\, will consider the rise of Islamic groups that preach
  Islamic exceptionalism and the growth of Islamophobia\, Shariaphobia as w
