Speaker/Performer: Introduction and discussion by Youness Elbousty, Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, Yale UniversityDescription: A theater director specializing in rehabilitating people through art therapy, Zeina Daccache struggles to set up Lebanon’s first prison-based drama production in the country’s notorious Roumieh Prison. For 15 months, 45 inmates find themselves working together to present an adaptation of the stage play “12 Angry Men”. Through this new-found creative outlet, we witness as the prisoners come together in a high quality professional ensemble and the positive effect it has on them.
