SUMMARY:Building the Divestment Movement: a Teach-in With Jamal Juma
DESCRIPTION:CANADA\n\nJamal is the coordinator of the Palestinian Grassroot
 s Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign and is centrally involved in setting up an 
 independent trade union movement in Palestine. He is a member of the Pales
 tinian Boycott National Committee (BNC)\, which leads the Palestinian BDS 
 movement.\n\nThe teach-in will address building solidarity with Palestine.
  Jamal will discuss:\n\n-the Zionist settler colonialism\, its evolving sy
 stem of spatial enclosures\, in particular the bantustanization of Palesti
 nian land through the apartheid wall\n-the centrality of divestment to Pal
 estine\n-strategies that student unions\, campus groups and community orga
 nizations can develop to pass BDS resolutions and take divestment campaign
 s forward\n\nThis teach-in is a great opportunity to learn about the mater
 ial effects of Zionist settler colonialism on Palestinian lives\, from an 
 organizer that is involved in popular resistance on the ground. It is also
  a great opportunity to engage in conversations about solidarity with Pale
 stine\, and taking action to tactically build the BDS campaign in Toronto.
 \n\n\n***Students against Israeli Apartheid and the GSU BDS Adhoc committe
 e stands in solidarity with the workers of CUPE 3902 and 3903 on strike\, 
 who are fighting for safer\, stronger and better living\, learning\, and w
 orking conditions. All events during IAW will be moved off campus to respe
 ct the picket lines.\n\n
