 ty\, as well as firsthand accounts from volunteers who worked in Shatila c
 amp in Lebanon and ways that you can meaningfully support and contribute t
 o the refugee community.\n\n\n+EVENT DESCRIPTION:\nMay 2015 marks the 67th
  anniversary of al Nakba\, or the Catastrophe. Israel's establishment resu
 lted in\, and required\, the forcible displacement of Palestinians both wi
 thin and outside of Palestine. Many fled their homes to neighboring Arab c
 ountries\, including Syria\, Lebanon\, and Jordan where they settled in re
 fugee camps. The Nakba and the resultantrefugee population is central to t
 he Israel-Palestinian conflict because it represents Israel’s settler-co
 lonial political vision as well as Palestinian claims not simply for land 
 but for rehabilitation. The question of refugees is essential to the discu
 ssion of any just resolution.\n\nThe forced removal and exile of Palestini
 ans is not a single\, historic event\, but an ongoing condition defining t
 heir grievances and struggle. The confluence of laws\, administrative orde
 rs\, military rule\, and High Court decisions work together to systematica
 lly reduce\, concentrate and remove Palestinians from their homes and land
 s.\n\n+ABOUT LEAP:\nLearning for the Empowerment and Advancement of Palest
 inians (LEAP) furthers the educational attainment of Palestinian refugee y
 outh in the camps of Lebanon.\n\n+SPEAKERS:\nPlease join Nour Joudah\, Ass
 ociate Producer at Status Hour\, for an important discussion on the Palest
 inian refugee reality and hear from former LEAP volunteers who will also d
 iscuss ways to contribute to the Palestinian refugee community in Lebanon 
 through their firsthand experiences.\n\nFeatured performance by DC’s own
  Foty Fusion whose unique blend of traditional Arabic rhythms and classica
