 he 2015 MCHR Annual Dinner will take place on Sunday\, March 22 at Marygro
 ve College\, 8425 W. McNichols\, Detroit\, MI. A reception will take plac
 e before the dinner at 4 pm\, while the dinner will begin at 5 pm.\nOur ke
 ynote speaker is Linda Sarsour\, the Executive Director of the Arab Ame
 rican Association of New York and Senior Strategist for The Campaign to T
 ake on Hate. \n\nLinda Sarsour is a working woman\, racial justice and ci
 vil rights activist\, every Islamophobe’s worst nightmare\, and mother o
 f three. Ambitious\, outspoken and independent\, Linda shatters stereotype
 s of Muslim women while also treasuring her religious and ethnic heritage.
  She is a Palestinian Muslim American and a self-proclaimed “pure New Yo
 rker\, born and raised in Brooklyn!” She is the Executive Director of th
 e Arab American Association of New York and Senior Strategist for Take on 
 Hate\, a recently launched campaign which aims to change perceptions of Ar
 ab and Muslim Americans including refugees. In 2013\, she co-founded the M
 uslim Democratic Club of New York\, the first of its kind in NYC. In wake 
 of the police murder of Mike Brown\, she co-founded Muslims for Ferguson t
 o build solidarity amongst American Muslim communities and encourage work 
 against police brutality. She is a member of the Justice League NYC\, a le
 ading NYC force of activists\, formerly incarcerated individuals\, and art
 ists working to reform the New York Police Department and the criminal jus
 tice system. She has received numerous awards and honors including “Cham
 pion of Change” by the White House\, the New York City Council’s Shirl
 ey Chisholm Women of Distinction Award\, and received the inaugural Americ
 an Muslim of the Year honor from the Council on Americans Islamic Relation
 s. She has written for and has been featured in local\, national\, and int
 ernational media discussing impact of domestic policies that target Arab a
 nd Muslim American communities\, criminal justice issues and Middle East a
 ffairs.\n\n\n\n
