Canadian Play on Qabbani Theater
Minister of Culture Riyad Ismat opened on Saturday the drama show “The Last Fifteen Seconds” within the drama gathering “Space of Multi-Cultures in Canada” on al-Qabanni Theater.
The show derives its subject from the terrorist bombings which targeted hotels in the Jordanian capital, Amman, in 2005 and claimed the lives of a number of civilians among them was the Syrian director Mustafa al-Akkad and his daughter Rima.
The play is completely an imaginary work, though it is based on real life events. It embodies the aspirations of such personalities who seek to immortalize historical figures like al-Akkad through his direction of the two films “The Message” and “The Lion of The Desert” on the Libyan hero Sheikh Omar al-Mukhtar.
The show also included a number of types of theater arts like pantomime art and expressionist dance.
The text was written by the Canadian playwright Gary Kirkham and the show was directed by Majdi Bu Matar.
