Troupe Ta'amullat is Michigan's first founded, longest-running, and most acclaimed Near and Middle Eastern Dance Troupe. Founded in 1973 by Kate McGowan (Suheyla) the Troupe receives acclaim for its choreography, costuming, and authenticity. Its repertoire stretches from Northwest Africa (the Maghreb) thru Egypt into the Mid-East and the Caucasus and Central Asia. The Troupe performs both folkloric dance styles and classical Egyptian danse orientale (raks sharki). ACCESS and the International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit recommend the Troupe when they receive calls asking for Arab dance.
