Roma Bakery carries a wide variety of mini pies, various types of breads including zaatar and cheese, family size pizza, pepperoni rolls, hummus, tabouli, desserts and tea biscuits among other items. The menu options are more savory than sweet.

The pepperoni rolls, at Roma Bakery, its biggest seller, have been locally famous for longer than half a century.  A line on the business cards reads: “The Home of The Pepperoni Rolls.”

The best meat in town is at Sanabel. Sanabel is located at Hunter Mill plaza shopping center. Wells Fargo bank is a notable landmark.Quality full service butcher shop specializing in Halal meats and foods. Catering and specialty items are available upon request.

When Al Nakheel, a Middle Eastern grocery store in Vienna, changed ownership, long-time employee Said Ghabayen prepared for retirement. But his son, Shadi Ghabayen, saw this as an opportunity instead. “My dad [has] a good customer base, serving the customer for 18 years,” says Shadi, a native of Jordan. He then quit his job as an auto mechanic, convinced his father to join him, and opened Sanabel, a Mediterranean market in Oakton, in January.

Besides selling packages of pita and tubs of garlic cream, Sanabel imports cheese from unsuspecting nations (no Spanish Manchego or Dutch Gouda ).
