A fraternal Masonic lodge which was founded over 70 years ago by a group of Arab Americans devoted to the fraternal brotherhood of Free Masonry. The lodge meets weekly except for holidays and during the summer.
SAC is a grassroots organization devoted to promoting educational, civic, economic, and human development, as well as advancing civil liberties and human dignity in Syria. It also aspires to build bridges of understanding and cooperation between American and Syrian people and institutions. SAC was founded on November 20, 2005, in Burr Ridge, Illinois. Founded and organized under the leadership of Dr. Zakaria Khalaf in the year 1988, the Syrian American Council is an umbrella organization comprising group of organizations across the nation. All Arab Americans are eligible for membership in the Syrian American council. The Advisory Board groups consist of prominent Arab American business and community leaders and is the top decision-making body in the council. The Syrian American Council's primary goal is strengthening the links between East West and helping Arab Americans maintain their cultural bonds with their homeland. The Council fosters social, economic, educational and media interaction between the United States and the Arab world in order to promote harmonious cross-cultural relationships.
