Berry-Brown Banks on Building Bridges Within Arab-American Community
Amal Berry-Brown builds bridges within the Arab-American community in Dearborn and southeastern Michigan.
Berry-Brown is a vice president and National Arab & Chaldean Affairs manager at Comerica Bank, and it is a role that is close to the heart of the Dearborn resident and Lebanese immigrant.
“Lenders are taught to walk into a business deal to close that transaction,” she said in a story on Dearborn Patch in 2011. “With the (Arab-American) community, it doesn’t work that way. You have to build a relationship. They want to know about your background. They want to know who your family is, what kind of person you are.
Berry-Brown accepts many responsibilities. She is member at-large on the executive board of ACCESS, and serves as second vice chair of the executive board of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on the advisory council for the Arab American and Chaldean Council. Berry-Brown is also a member of the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce, the Arab American Institute and a patron member of the Arab American National Museum.
This is just one example of the many people making a difference in Dearborn. Read more about those people here, and leave a comment below to tell us about other people are making a difference every day.
