Arab American National Museum to Host Talk on Role of Social Media in Middle East Uprisings
The Arab American National Museum will host a panel discussion exploring the use of social media during uprisings in countries throughout the Arab world.
The discussion Friday at the museum in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn includes a journalist, human rights attorney and documentary filmmaker who covered or participated in the popular uprising earlier this year in Egypt that toppled President Hosni Mubarak.
The discussion is expected to use events in Egypt as a case study, and examine the role Facebook, Twitter and other social media have played in them.
The museum is presenting the discussion with Michigan Radio, which represents three National Public Radio affiliates in Michigan.
Admission is free but seating is limited for the program, which begins at 7 p.m.
