ADC Michigan Denounces Human Rights Abuses in Libya, Bahrain and Yemen
ADC Michigan joins all peace-seeking people in condemning the acts of violence committed against peaceful protestors in Libya, Bahrain and Yemen by government security forces who have attacked pro-democracy protesters over the past two days. According to several media reports, the violent attacks have left hundreds injured and resulted in over 500 deaths. ADC Michigan denounces the human rights abuses and crimes committed against the non-violent protesters as well as media personnel and journalists. These actions against activists are a violation of basic universal human rights and must not be tolerated. ADC Michigan calls upon the U.S. Administration, the United Nations and the international community for immediate action to stop such heinous acts. Additionally, ADC Michigan calls upon the governments of Libya, Bahrain and Yemen to uphold the basic civil rights, liberties, freedom of speech and assembly and all basic principles of humanity that all people deserve.
