ADC Commends Senate Judiciary Committee for Approving Judge Sotomayor's Nomination
The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) applauds the Senate Judiciary Committee’s decision to support Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s Supreme Court Nomination. ADC urges the full Senate to vote in accordance with the Senate Judiciary Committee’s decision and approve Judge Sotomayor’s nomination.
Judge Sotomayor has shown exceptional dedication to justice and the law throughout her career as a trial court judge and as an appellate court judge. Judge Sotomayor heard nearly 1000 cases at the appellate level and authored approximately 400 opinions, demonstrating a consistent commitment to objectivity and fairness. Similarly, the Senate Confirmation Hearings portrayed Judge Sotomayor’s resolute desire to protect the civil rights and civil liberties of all persons dictated by the Constitution.
ADC National Executive Director, Kareem Shora stated, “This is one more positive step toward a momentous opportunity in our nation’s history. The Senate Judiciary Committees actions yesterday echo the continued struggle for civil rights and maintain the success for our Constitutional values.”
Judge Sotomayor must now be approved by the full U.S. Senate.
