ANERA Receives Major Gift From Majid Al Futtaim Charity Foundation
ANERA is pleased to announce that Majid Al Futtaim Charity Foundation has donated $250,000 to ANERA to help fund its work to improve the health and well-being of Palestinian children
Managing Director Abdulraouf Taher credited ANERA’s long experience in the fields of health, education and infrastructure and its high standing among Palestinians. “This contribution was made to ANERA based on its long standing record of valued assistance to Palestinian refugees and distressed communities. ANERA is a well-reputed organization that has established credibility with both the local communities and international donor programs, and is one of very few trusted vehicles that can assure delivering assistance to the communities that need it most.” Taher added that the foundation was touched by the sincerity and dedication of ANERA’s staff, 99 percent of whom are from the communities they serve.
ANERA president Bill Corcoran welcomed the gift, noting that the funds will help sustain many development projects underway that are aimed at improving the lives of Palestinian families.
For more than 40 years, ANERA has been a leading provider of development, health, education and employment programs to Palestinian communities and impoverished families throughout the Middle East. In FY 2011, the relief and development agency delivered more than $65 million of programs to the people of the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon and Jordan.
The Majid Al Futtaim Charity Foundation was established in 2006 to help improve the quality of life for communities in the UAE and across the Middle East. The foundation focuses on activities in healthcare and training-for-employment. The foundation also cooperates with active charities in the UAE to manage charitable donations in medical care and educational support.
The founder, Majid Al Futtaim, is one of the leading entrepreneurs in the Middle East, having established a successful business group that owns and operates several shopping malls and hotels, in addition to the Carrefour retail business in the region
