Arab American Turkia Awada Mullin New Director of Wayne County Airport
Arab American Assistant Wayne County executive Turkia Awada Mullin has been named the new director of Metro Airport.
The Detroit/Wayne County Airport Authority board approved appointing Mullin in a unanimous vote, over a year after the former director Lester Robinson was fired.
“Her energy, her enthusiasm, her fire, her passion: that inspires her to make southeast Michigan a better place,” made her stand out from the others, said board member Sam Nouhan.
Mullin has served as chief development officer for the county’s Economic Development Growth Engine and the Wayne County Land Bank. She holds an undergraduate degree from Wayne State and a law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy.
