Arab American Community Leaders Join Comcast, Dearborn Officials to Celebrate Opening of Bilingual Customer Service Center
Comcast, Michigan’s leading provider of communications services and products, will be joined Monday, June 30 by leaders from Southeast Michigan’s Arab American community and the Dearborn, Mich. area to celebrate the opening of a 3,360 sq. ft. state-of-the-art bilingual Arabic-English customer service center located at 5070 Schaefer Rd. in Dearborn.
The new center serves customers from throughout Southeast Michigan and is capable of handling requests and facilitating product demonstrations for customers, in person, preferring assistance in both Arabic and English.
The event program will begin at 5:30 p.m. and is scheduled to include a ribbon cutting, facility tours, Middle Eastern fare and remarks from the following:
Jim Allen, Chairman, American Arab Chamber of Commerce, Dave Buhl, Senior Vice President, Comcast Michigan Region, Sen. Irma Clark-Coleman (D-Detroit), Jack O’Reilly, Mayor, City of Dearborn
Rep. Gino Polidori (D-Dearborn)
The new service center is part of the Comcast’s $165 million investment in service in Michigan and its commitment to diverse communities. Demand for the bilingual capabilities featured at the Dearborn customer service center grew from the increasing popularity of the company’s Comcast Digital Voice phone service, as well as its Comcast High Speed Internet and Comcast Digital Cable products. The facility officially began serving customers on May 19.
“Comcast has long been an active supporter of the Arab American community and an active participant in many organizations, including the Chamber,” said Jim Allen, chairman of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce. “This step forward by Comcast further demonstrates the company’s commitment to provide convenient, user friendly service in our ethnically diverse area.”
“I commend Comcast for recognizing the importance of the Dearborn community,” said Sen. Irma Clark-Coleman (D-Detroit). “This new service center will be an example to neighboring cities of how to meet the demands of diversity with care and ingenuity.”
“This is exciting news, both for Dearborn and the Arab-American community,” said Rep. Gino Polidori (D-Dearborn). “This center will help to accommodate our residents and create jobs, and I commend Comcast for its foresight in this effort.”
