ACCESS Community Health & Research Center to Host Junior Master Gardener Class

posted on: Feb 25, 2011

In partnership with University Cooperative Extension Network, ACCESS Community Health & Research Center is hosting a FREE Junior Master Gardener Class for 3rd-5th graders in Dearborn. It will be held Wednesdays from 4-6pm in the gym at Salina Elementary School, located on 2700 Ferney Street.

JMG engages students in hands on group and individual learning experiences that develop a working knowledge of gardening and an appreciation for the environment. JMG also inspires youth to be of service to others through learning and leadership development projects, and rewards them with certification and recognition. The program covers plant classification, soil, water, fruits and vegetables, insect and plant diseases, ecology and environmental horticulture, garden design, and volunteering.

You must register your child in order for them to attend. Please contact Triana at 313-216-2238 or at tkazaleh-sirdenis@accesscommunity.org to sign your child up. 3rd-5th graders from all Dearborn Schools are welcomed.
