Mr. James Lambright, the Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States will highlight the importance of the United State’s role in promoting trade and development with the Arab world at the 3rd biennial U.S.-Arab Economic Forum, May 7-9 in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Lambright, one of the Forum’s prominent speakers, will deliver a speech to the audience, describing the need to build significant relationships with the Arab world, to eliminate the biases associated with the Middle East, and enhance the prospects of commercial ties between both regions.

The Export-Import Bank of the United States works with private organizations to build business partnerships with the Arab world, which assists in eliminating some of the preconceived notions associated to the Middle East and its peoples. The Forum will be used as a platform to increase diplomacy between the United States and the Arab world.

“The presence of Mr. Lambright, and the support of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, is a testimony of America’s commitment to enhance relations with the Middle East. I thank Mr. Lambright, and look ahead to see U.S. businesses build partnerships with the Arab world,” said Mr. Nasser Beydoun, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of the U.S.-Arab Economic Forum.

As an independent U.S. government agency, the Export-Import Bank helps facilitate the export of U.S. goods and services globally. It grants financing to investors, offers direct loans and loan guarantees, and provides export credit insurance to entities wishing to invest in foreign countries.

According to Mr. Beydoun, “building diplomacy through business is vital to the fabric of stability in the Middle East. If the U.S. can forge alliances with the Arab world, we are all in a better position to decrease the various tensions being faced by both regions.”

Mr. Ahmad Chebbani, the Chairman of the U.S.-Arab Economic Forum, echoed Mr. Beydoun stating that, “the Forum also hopes to build on the visit of President Bush to the Middle East in January 2008. President Bush continuously stressed the need to build shared security. If businesses from the U.S. and the Arab world are able to build security through cross-border trade and investment, then both worlds will walk down the path of peace and prosperity.”
