Arab Americans To Meet in Nation’s Capital
On April 22-24, Arab Americans from across the country will gather in Washington D.C. to discuss domestic policy issues facing our community. Topics to be addressed will include immigration reform, civil rights, civil liberties, access to human services and the power of national service programs.
The National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC) is hosting the three-day event, which will include meetings with elected officials, White House officials, and representatives from Federal Agencies and local non-profits. This is the first event of its kind, where grassroots and community-based Arab American organizations will come together to collectively raise issues of concern.
The event, themed “NNAAC Advocacy Week,” kicks-off Wednesday, April 22 with presentations from local government and non-profit agencies about current policy issues related to national service and refugees. Later, attendees will have the opportunity to travel to Capitol Hill to speak directly with their respective Congressmen and Senators, and attend an Arab American White House Briefing.
