Palestinians Agree to Have Yasser Arafat’s Body Exhumed
Chicago consists of Arab Americans from all over the Arab world. The majority of Arab Americans in Chicago however, are of both Jordanian and Palestinian decent. Recently, a main issue that strikes the heart of most Palestinians was brought back into the spot light. Arab Americans, especially Palestinian Americans’ suspicions have been confirmed in regards to the death of beloved former President of Palestine, Yasser Arafat.
In November 11, 2004, President Arafat was reportedly suffering from an unknown illness and passed away after slipping into a coma at 75 years old. Many Palestinians as well as Arabs from all over the world considered foul play to be a very likely option in regards of Arafat’s sudden death. Recently, Al Jazeera aired a documentary shown to be examining evidence of Arafat’s death. Due to evidence shown on the documentary, backing up most Arabs and Palestinians initial theory of murder, Suha Arafat, the late president’s widow, has since granted permission to exhume the body from its resting place in Ramallah. All Palestinians would like to know now is who has committed such a crime. Although, it has taken eight years to shed a light on the late Palestinian president’s tragic death, the investigation will finally bring closure to fans as well as the family of the beloved president.
