**************************
In many parts of the world, journalists, bloggers, writers, and cartoonists, risk their safety, their jobs and even their very lives as they speak truth to power. The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and closely related countries including Pakistan are no different, with both consistently ranking in the bottom 100 of Reports Without Borders’ annual Press Freedom Index.
Facing threats and intimidation, these individuals battle efforts by governments and other groups to control the flow of information. Freedom of expression is an essential human right, and Amnesty International works to protect those who find themselves at risk simply for exercising this right.
Looking forward to having you join our event!
