Where Lebanon Meets America… Sort Of.
In an era where glitz and glamour routinely steal spotlights, this year’s Miss Lebanon Emigrant USA Pageant will be no different. For the fourth consecutive year, this high-profile event will be hosted in the nation’s capital in a celebration of Lebanese American culture.
While celebrity guests and performers taking part in the festivities include Stand-Up Comedian, Ahmed Ahmed and international recording artist, Massari, the focus is on the select group girls – one of whom will represent the USA in Beirut later this summer. There, Lebanese communities throughout the world will have designated representatives vying to become Miss Lebanon Emigrant 2013.
The girls participating in the D.C. pageant will share with a distinguished committee of judges how their cultural affinity, professional ambitions and civic and community interests all play a role in shaping their character and personal identity. Celebrating the dual Arab-Lebanese and American cultures is a stated objective within the organization. In the words of the pageant’s National Director, Grace Farah, “We’re striving to unite the community in a fun and festive fashion. And by adding some singing, dancing, dining and laughing, we’re about as close the Middle East as possible.” The pageant’s Co-Producer and Host, Joseph Naggiar, later added with a smirk, “That still leaves us some room for a few surprises.”
The Miss Lebanon Emigrant USA Pageant is being held on Saturday, June 8th at the Sheraton Pentagon City. For tickets: Call 757.286.9261. Girls can apply atwww.misslebanonemigrantusa.com
